Tell me about... Plot K1

Construction of the first buildings of the Canada Water development started in the autumn and is due to complete in 2023-4. (The entire development will take around ten years to build). Thank you to everyone who lives, works and spends time in the area for their patience while the works are going on.

Our ‘Tell me about’ series spotlights different parts of the project. In this post we talk about K1, one of the first plots to be built, where we are building council homes to provide affordable housing for the local community.

What is K1?

Plot K1 is where we’re building 79 homes for Southwark Council on Roberts Close. All homes will be owned and managed by Southwark Council, with at least 60 of them as council homes at council rents.

Most of the homes will have two or more bedrooms, making them ideal for family living. Families will benefit from the location by Russia Dock Woodland and Alfred Salter Primary School.

Construction work began in the winter last year, with homes being built by our contractor McAleer and Rushe. They’re expected to finish in 2023. Thank you to all our neighbours for your patience during the construction period.

Delivering affordable homes as part of the Masterplan

These are just the first affordable homes that we’re building as part of our development. Overall, 25% of all the c.3,000 homes that we build will be social rented, with a further 10% intermediate affordable, which includes shared ownership. For more on our local commitments, click here.
