We would like to invite you to share your views on our updated proposals for the Printworks building, part of the Canada Water development. Between Monday 26th June and Sunday 9th July 2023 you can learn more about our proposals via a virtual exhibition, or come and meet the team at one of our two drop-in events.
For the past six years, Printworks London has been an iconic cultural destination. It has captivated audiences by hosting live music performances featuring the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Proms, been the stage for fashion showcases from world-class designers, and even served as a set for the recent Batman film. It was initially envisioned as a temporary venue, but we are now in discussions to secure its long-term future as a significant cultural landmark.
In July 2022 we received detailed planning permission from Southwark Council to turn the Printworks building into an office-led development. We have listened to the feedback we received and have developed new proposals for the Printworks building as we recognise it is a unique and popular venue, and that there is support for retaining its cultural and musical use.
The new proposals for the iconic Printworks building include flexible workspace, alongside a brand-new cultural venue that will attract talented artists from all over the world. It will offer events ranging from live music and concerts to art exhibitions and dance performances. We have developed proposals that reflect the industrial heritage of the existing building while bringing its appearance up to a modern and energy efficient standard to create a truly iconic and sustainable building.
We’re now in a position to share the detailed plans before we submit a new Reserved Matters Application (RMA) to Southwark Council in the summer.
