Are you an SE16 entrepreneur setting up a business? Wondering where to start, or confused about whether setting up as a sole trader, company or social enterprise is the best option for you?

Free legal advice is being offered by our local partner Tree Shepherd (who run affordable workspace Thrive in Surrey Quays Leisure Park), working with QLegal (Queen Mary University’s legal arm), to help you understand more about the opportunities available.

The QLegal team is made up of high-calibre postgraduate law students from Queen Mary University of London and provides free support to start-ups and entrepreneurs to help them develop their businesses. The students are supervised by practising lawyers from leading law firms. 

The online workshop will run through the following corporate structures, with a chance to ask questions: 

  • Sole Trader 
  • Partnership 
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
  • Incorporating a limited liability company (Ltd)
  • Community interest company (CIC)
  • Co-operative business
  • Charitable incorporated organisation

There are pro’s and con’s to each of these structures, with some offering better opportunities in areas such as access to grants and funding.
